Player Ratings – Cardiff City 1, Burnley 2

Neil Etheridge

http://gty.im/1043669896

Was scarcely tested during the first half, such was the quality of Cardiff’s defensive work. The home team were opened up soon after half-time and maybe Etheridge might have kept that first goal out 5

Bruno Manga

http://gty.im/1043480522

Played on the right of defence, which is not his natural position, and occasional forward runs brought success. HIs pass led to Murphy’s goal. Faced the pace of Aaron Lennon and did a good job keeping the former Spurs man quiet.

Sean Morrison (capt)

http://gty.im/1043669572

Big man ‘Mozza’ led by example. Defended strongly alongside Bamba and Co, while he was a danger when he went up for set pieces. Those long throws contributed to City’s direct style and put Burnley under pressure 6

Sol Bamba

http://gty.im/1043472210

Returned alongside Morrison at the back and it was good to see the two centre-backs together. Bamba’s boys at the back kept errors to a minimum and they deserved better, but it wasn’t their day

Greg Cunningham

http://gty.im/1043498704

Rated Cardiff’s best player against Manchester City by Warnock, was again effective and solid on the left, although he was out jumped by Vokes when Burnley went ahead 6

Joe Ralls

http://gty.im/1043427542

A key player for the Bluebirds with his all-action, energetic style. Didn’t see enough of the ball this time, but his workmate, as always, was immense before he made way for Gary Madine in the second half 5

Man of the Match – Victor Camarasa

http://gty.im/1043499460

Adds a touch of quality through midfield – his beautifully weighted pass helped set up Murphy’s goal.. Also worked to support Manga dealing with Lennon. Made forward runs to support City’s attack and his delivery from set pieces was spot on 7

Callum Paterson

http://gty.im/1043473438

Back in the attacking midfield position he enjoys. Supported Zohore and was highly effective. Went close when his header was cleared off the line. His first half cycle kick struck an arm, but referee waved aside penalty appeals 7

Harry Arter

http://gty.im/1043669890

His bright green boots make him easy to spot. Always neat and tidy, calming things down, but tenacious with his challenges. When Burnley tried to break Arter was invariably on the cover 6
Josh Murphy

http://gty.im/1043566140
What a finish for his goal! This kid can play and he’ll get better and better this season as he adapts to Premier life. Smashed shot against a post after clever approach play. Headed ball into net, but effort ruled out for earlier foul. City need to get ball to him more 7

Kenneth Zohore

http://gty.im/1043635286

Has all the potential needed to make a big impact at the top level. He has good movement, power and pace. Recalled after a good week in training. His low shot was superbly saved low down by Hart.
