Player Ratings – Cardiff City 0, Leicester City 1

Neil Etheridge

Has enjoyed himself in the top flight. Quality goalkeeper whose distribution has improved. Made a superb save with a leg when Vardy ran clear in the closing minutes, racing off his line to deflect the ball over 7

Bruno Manga

http://gty.im/1056776876

Cardiff will surely look to sign a right-back in January. Centre-half Manga has done a decent job playing out of position, but he isn’t a natural and sometimes looks dreadfully uncomfortable 5

Sean Morrison (capt)

http://gty.im/1056775534

Totally committed, a leader of men who you know will battle or his team every step of the way. Met a Bennett free-kick in second half injury time, but his headed flew well wide 6

Sol Bamba

http://gty.im/1056886810

Sol sound, solid and formed a strong partnership with his captain Morrison at centre-back. Went close when his overhead kick was cleared off the line. But did the referee miss a Bamba handball? He did, but Vardy was clearly offside in the build-up. The shot from 15 yards hit Bamba’s outstretched arm and deflected onto the bar 6

Man of the Match – Joe Bennett

http://gty.im/1056767952

The left-back outstanding, one of the best players out there. Enjoying himself in the top flight and Neil Warnock won’t be looking strengthen on that side of defence 8

Josh Murphy

http://gty.im/1056776916

Flashes of sparkle, particularly earn on, had Leicester on the back foot. The visitors, though, gradually took control and and Cardiff struggled to earn the possession they needed. Murphy, Decordova-Reid and more were not given the ball in dangerous areas. Made way for Madine 5

Harry Arter

http://gty.im/1056844624

Booked for a foul just before half-time and miss the home game v Brighton next weekend. City will miss the tenacious Arter, who harried opponents into errors. Thankfully, Joe Ralls is back after completing his suspension 6

Victor Camarasa

http://gty.im/1056844668

Hit the bar with a stinging right-footed free-kick from just outside the penalty area midway through the first half. Composed and creative, while he doesn’t stop closing down opponents. Good moments, but not enough of them 6

Aron Gunnarsson

http://gty.im/1056807340

It’s been a big ask for Gunnar, who has fought his way back to fitness and has played three games in 14 days having scarcely been able to fully train. Cardiff started well and Gunnarsson was part of that, but the way they faded and Leicester took over said a lot 5

Bobby Decordova-Reid

http://gty.im/1056776190

Struggled to make an impact and made way for Hoilett with 25 minutes left. He has the desire and ability to make a major impact over the season, but this wasn’t his day 5

Callum Paterson

http://gty.im/1056844650

Zohore should watch Paterson in action and take note. The big Dane, who has all the attributes needed to succeed, was not in the match day 16. Scot Paterson led the attack. He’s willing, wins aerial duels, closes down and is always looking to put opponents under pressure, but he’s far from a natural in that position 5
