Et tu, Jordi Osei-Tutu?

Jordi Osei-Tutu is a new name by us, so rather than surf Youtube and Wikipedia, we had a quick chat with Arsenal youth team oracle Jeorge Bird from arsenalyouth.wordpress.com for his considered verdict.

Osei-Tutu, a 21-year-old, Slough-born prospect, joined the academy from Reading in 2015. How has he fared and how highly is he regarded?

When he first joined he took some time to adapt as he was a winger at Reading and Arsenal wanted to use him at right back. He eventually settled in and became an important player for the Under-23’s, helping them to win the title in 2018.

What type of player is he and what are seen as his strengths and weaknesses?

He’s a quick player, who can react quickly to danger. Good technically and an impressive crosser, he can also weigh in with goals himself. At times he can get caught out defensively, but he is improving in that regard.

It sounds like he had an encouraging spell at Bochum last year. What was the verdict on his time there?

At Bochum, he had some difficult moments initially, but thrived when moved to the right wing and was very effective towards the end of the season.

He has yet to feature for Arsenal. Is he anywhere near there first team and is he in Arteta’s thinking at all? Also, how long is left on his current deal?

Arsenal rate him highly. He has been on the bench and played in friendlies, but it is a bit strange he hasn’t been given a chance. His current deal lasts until 2023.
