“I’m not a huge fan of this. It’s not that I don’t think that Deeney would be a good signing – I do for what it’s worth and he’d lead the line well for us – but for me it smacks of panic and abandoning our philosophy.
“So far we’ve bought wisely within our means and now to go after a player on a reported £100k-per-week doesn’t fit the blueprint.
“I’ve got faith in Big Ken and think that this money would be better spent in the centre of midfield.”
Cardiff are keen to strengthen their attacking options and could go for Watford captain Troy Deeney.

“Troy Deeney of two years ago would have been considered a bit of a steal at this price – the Troy Deeney of now? Who can honestly say. In an era of inflated transfer fees, it’s hard to know what is and isn’t a good price. Mitrovic is hailed a bargain at £22m even though he’s failed consistently in the Prem – so is Deeney a calculated risk at £15m?
“For me, yes. His wages are high but who’s to say what the exact figure is? Deeney didn’t set the world alight last season and he’s been linked with a move away from Watford previously. I like Big Ken but we can’t rely on him for 20 goals a season – at least Deeney comes with the know how and ability to do it at PL level.
“If we can get his wages down or guarantee a big cut should relegation happen, for one season it’s a calculated risk. And Warnock would know how to get the best out of a striker who is an absolute unit.’
No more updates so far about Troy #Deeney but here is some information about him and his stats in the #PremierLeague.

“My first reaction was one of disappointment and that hasn’t entirely faded with a nights sleep, I find the transfer fee and supposed wages unpalatable and I can’t see how this could be the very thing the board and transfer committee have been after, value for money.
“IF the wages and transfer fee were a lot lower than the ones being discussed on social media then I can see the value in this given Deeney, for all of his faults (we’ll forget him picking Joe Allen up by the collar) is fundamentally a proven Premier League goalscorer with a good record and the right temperament for a Warnock side.
“I can see him being a strong leader and an absolute figurehead but for me, the money would have to make sense but I guess that would be the mantra of the transfer committee too.
“For all of my reservations, Warnock knows best and I trust him completely, if he thinks he’s right then that’s good enough for me.”
