Cardiff City need a right-back. With Bruno Manga a natural centre-halve and Jazz Richards reportedly leaving on loan, Lee Peltier is the club’s only natural right-back. Reports are linking the Bluebirds with Monaco right-back Almamy Touré, but what other options are available for Neil Warnock with the transfer window closing tomorrow?
Jeremy Toljan – Scott Johnson
You don’t get too many Nathaniel Clyne’s on the market at this time of year. Cast a glance around at the available right back options and there is not much to set the pulses racing.
Borussia Dortmund’s Jeremy Toljan should though. One of the best scouters in the business signed him in the summer of 2017, after he had broken through at Hoffenheim. That summer he had also starred for Germany’s all-conquering U-21, European Championship winning side.
It hasn’t worked out at Dortmund though and the rapid right back, who can also play on the left, is up for grabs. The 24-year-old wouldn’t cost a great deal and would represent a shrewd investment.
Kelvin Amian – Paul Gronow
The French football leagues have proved to be an extremely fruitful area for Premier League and Championship clubs in the last twenty years and this transfer window has shown itself to be no different. Cardiff City desperately need a quick right back who is comfortable at both ends of the pitch and so they should look no further than Kelvin Amian of Toulouse.
Fully capped for France up to under 21 level, Amian is comfortable on the ball and has been an ever present this season which for a player of just 20 years old is impressive indeed. The English clubs have been sniffing around him for a few years now without taking the plunge and at just five million euros this purchase would be a sound investment.
A ball playing, pacey full back for five million that’s fully capped by France is a rare thing indeed. Snap him up Bluebirds.
Chris Gunter – Scott Salter

When Chris Gunter left Cardiff City for Tottenham Hotspur in January 2008, there was little doubt in my mind that the academy graduate would be a top full-back.
While Gunter perhaps didn’t reach the top in terms of domestic football, he did with Wales. A key component of the wonderful Euro 2016 semi-final side, Gunter is a Welsh legend.
Now 29, Gunter is approaching the latter years of his career, so this may be his last shot a Premier League football. In no means a headline grabbing signing, but bringing Gunts home would, in my opinion, represent an upgrade on our existing natural right-backs for a relatively low fee, leaving more budget available for attacking players.
Plus, he’ll count as home grown when we qualify for Europe.
