Victor Camarasa

The VFTN Verdict: Victor Camarasa

With reports breaking that Real Betis midfielder Victor Camarasa is a done deal – with the Spanish midfielder joining Neil Warnock’s Bluebirds on a season long loan – the team at View From The Ninian give their reactions to the deal:

Scott Salter

“More than anything, it’s a relief to get a midfielder in through the door. It’s clearly an area of concern so it’s good to see Warnock address it. I don’t know too much about Camarasa, but what I’ve read from some Spanish football journalists has been positive.

Colin Millar said that Camarasa was excellent for Alaves, but struggled to kick on at Betis. Likewise, Gera Loba described him as a player that can control the pace of the team and make a difference in attack. All promising stuff.”

Bethan Phillips

“Camarasa has been dubbed to do the simple things well. A box to box midfielder with a good eye for a pass. He’ll be a welcomed addition to the team.

“I imagine Warnock has had his say on this potential deal. He’s been after a midfielder and looks as if he’s onto a good one.

“Though I don’t know too much about Camarasa, I trust Warnock’s vision and I’m sure he will fit in well with the team he wants to build.”

Ben James

“Camarasa, with his name like a Panic! At the Disco song. I’d never heard of him before he was linked but everything I’ve read is positive. It sounds like he would provide us with a different option in the midfield and he seems to really want to come here.

“We have some good options in the midfield already but if Ralls goes missing, we don’t have someone to replace him. Camarasa sounds like Ralls, with a tiny bit extra. We need a player who can control the midfield, make things tick, and Victor sounds like that.”

Paul Gronow

“The signing of Camarasa definitely helps to silence the critics of Cardiff City who argued (perhaps correctly) that the the central midfield was weaker as a result of the failure to sign Marko Grujic and the end of Craig Bryson’s role.

I’m not convinced he will be a first eleven player but we definitely require someone comfortable on the ball in that vital area of the pitch to work alongside Ralls ensuring the bluebirds aren’t overrun. I’m pleased to see him arrive and hope he proves to be a real coup for us this season.”
