Normally, when we take a look at the man in the middle, we tend to look at the last time he was in charge of a match involving the Bluebirds and use that to gauge how he may approach this Saturday’s game against the impressive Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The last time Jonathan Moss took charge of Cardiff City was way back on the 12th April 2014, when the almost-doomed Bluebirds travelled to St Mary’s to play Mauricio Pochettino’s Southampton. They were riding high in the table and expecting to win comfortably. Step forward Juan Torrez Ruiz, aka Juan Cala.

Brought in by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Cala had been something of an enigma and had only really excited the supporters with his passionate rallying calls made on social media. These were a brief respite from the miserable action on the pitch and with this in mind, no one foresaw him smashing a 25 yard winner. It saw Cardiff City win on the road for the first time since the 25th September 2013.
As we now know, this merely delayed the inevitable and Cardiff City were relegated just over three weeks later,thanks to a 3-0 loss at Newcastle United.
This weekend sees the Bluebirds play Chelsea in their third away game of the season and the West-London outfit are looking ominous in their quest to challenge Manchester City’s Premier League dominance.

The last game Moss refereed was Burnley’s 2-0 loss to Manchester United at Turf Moor, a game in which Marcus Rashford was shown a straight red card for an altercation with Phil Bardsley. Interestingly, a decision that wasn’t questioned by Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, who deemed Rashford naïve for getting involved in the incident.
Moss can certainly handle what will be an extremely vocal atmosphere, as Warnock’s troops look to continue to take the game to their opponents. Let’s hope the Bluebirds can be just as cool at the Bridge.
